Le projet WorkLiB

Analyzing the Evolution of Work-Life Balance Over the Life Course

WorkLiB is a 4-year project (2025 - 2028) funded by the French National Agency for Research (ANR). Its objective is to analyze the current conditions shaping the relationship between personal and professional life, how these conditions have evolved over time, and their effects on life events as well as economic, social, and gender inequalities.

To achieve this, the project relies on a longitudinal survey of families and employers (FamEmp). The survey consists of two components: the first covers over 41,000 individuals surveyed in 2024, 2027, and 2030; the second targets their employers, ie. approximately 9,000 employers with 10 or more employees. These survey data are then linked with administrative socio-fiscal data.

The WorkLiB project addresses one of the most pressing issues in contemporary society: the fair distribution of time across the life course, within couples, and between genders. It aims to provide evidence to policymakers and companies to inform the development of policies that enhance individual wellbeing—for parents, children, and caregivers—and promote gender equality for both women and men.
